Uber Aims to Replace Taxis in Phoenix

A new app-based driving service has moved in to Phoenix and is expanding.

If you’re a frequenter of the lively Phoenix night scene, you might want to check in to an app called Uber. What Uber does is connect people looking for a ride with people who have volunteered (after passing thorough background and vehicle checks) to be drivers. The catch is, these drivers are using their own luxury cars to provide the service. And unlike with a taxi, Uber has integrated technology, so you can speak with your driver, and track where they are after you hire them for a ride.

After arriving in Phoenix earlier this year, the company may be looking to expand it’s driver service at the user base expands. Uber has already partnered with nightclubs, bars, and local businesses to get the word out.

Of course, a service like this runs a bit more expensive than your average taxi ride, so maybe hold off on that last drink if you’re looking to save some money.

Has anyone in Phoenix used this yet?
